Good afternoon Alcott School Community,
Our school year is off to a great start and we are all feeling the challenges faced with our current circumstances. Reopening schools has taken a lot of hard work from you, our kids and our staff. Be sure to acknowledge your teachers and staff here at Alcott: Filling Buckets Matters!
Those of you who expressed interest in serving as a volunteer or hourly position for noon duty supervision will be notified soon regarding the new protocols due to COVID. I am hoping to see this in place before mid October. Once we have completed the new volunteer packets, I will be contacting those who have expressed interest directly by phone for an orientation.
You may have seen on our website or my Alcott Instagram and Twitter, that this week we saw our highest number of students opting in for our COVID testing. It's an easy 5 second process that is painless. Most kids giggle because it tickles. The pictures I featured shows just how easy this is but more importantly, we are keeping our school community safe and healthy. If you are interested in this free option, see my earlier links or visit our front office.
We only had a few students in the office today for our minimum day. Don't forget to mark your calendars with the dates I sent out in earlier updates for our minimum days: remember-these are non-Wednesday minimum days used for professional development for our team.
PTA handed out over 200 folders with important information regarding Alcott's PTA opportunties and dates. We need your support and involvement. Remember: we are about Team and the concepts around UBUNTU mean that we are stronger when we all participate. Your active involvement at our school results in a stronger school culture here at Alcott. Your support allows us to raise money and support our school efforts to create the best school in San Diego.
Thank you for your continued support.
Have a great weekend.
Principal Lewis
